At MD Senior Living, it’s our wonderful people who truly create an environment of caring. Our years of experience in healthcare have taught us that taking the extra time and effort to cultivate the right team of compassionate individuals is an important part of creating a warm and safe environment for our residents.
Our caregivers, along with our management team, view caring for our seniors as a privilege and an honor. We get a great sense of satisfaction from the relationships we build with our residents and their families.
All of our caregivers are certified by Arizona’s Department of health services and continue to hone their caregiving skills through ongoing training.

“Since I was 9 years old I showed my family and my community at Yorktown; VA that i have compassion for taking care of people. In the community where i live a neighbor’s mother passed away from cancer and i was the one who showed compassion by babysitting for free and cooking their meals until their father was able to get on his feet. The male neighbor told my father, your daughter is a Real Special Girl from God! I enjoy helping people.”
My dad and mom have been living at the Retreat since Oct. 2018. My father was suffering from an aggressive cancer, and in Jan. was placed in Hospice for 1 week (who came to the Retreat!) and passed. My mom continues to live here and suffers from dementia. Prior to coming to the Retreat, they resided in 2 other facilities, and the Retreat demonstrates, by far, the most genuinely compassionate, personalized, reliable and holistic set of services in an intimate environment. The staff continues to go over & above to understand the unique behaviors & interests of each resident and innovate creative ways to engage and excite each resident individually and in group activities. For example, one resident wanted to build a garden fountain...the staff hired their landscaper to work with a resident to build it and, today, it adorns the front entrance. Most important, is their intimate knowledge and day-to-day tracking of your loved one's changes in health. Not only do they have in-house physician and RX services, but the staff is well trained in identifying and mitigating the medical challenges our aging parents face on a daily basis. All the meals are home-cooked and residents can request their favorites. They build their grocery list off of resident needs and preferences. They even make resident favorite 'treats' at homes and bring them in... like home-made fudge. Enough of the examples....bottom line: having experienced 2 other facilities, the Retreat is over the top in personalized care-giving for your loved one.
My husband just recently entered North Scottsdale Retreat and I can't say enough good things about it. The entire staff is focused on the residents and their care. They are always checking to see if residents have a need, a wish or a want to make their lives a little brighter. They will do whatever it takes to make the residents comfortable and feel "at home". The environment itself is beautiful and set up to provide group/staff interaction and conversation. Their is laughter and a wonderful sense of "family" among all. They told us in the interview they consider their residents as "family" and it's very apparent that is true. On our 2nd day my husband mentioned he liked key lime pie and sushi and the next day that was his lunch! I would highly recommend this lovely care home.
